Pueblo, Co. - Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Detective in handling the recent arrest and investigation of wanted felon Jose Barron, 30, who was found in the possession of two handguns and more than 9,000 Fentanyl pills worth an estimated street value of $62,000. The detective was working as part of a recent joint law enforcement operation in Pueblo. Barron was arrested on warrants after he ran from law enforcement who were investigating a possible stolen vehicle. With a gun in his hand and a backpack, Barron took off running and was headed toward several business when the Sheriff’s Detective was able to position his vehicle in Barron’s path and prevent him from entering the businesses. Barron ran into the vehicle, causing him to drop the gun. Barron continued running but slipped and fell on some rocks and dropped the backpack. Barron was apprehended and taken into custody. The Sheriff’s Detectives wrote and executed a search warrant on the backpack and recovered another handgun and the large quantity of Fentanyl pills. Barron was arrested on the outstanding warrants. Additional charges are forthcoming as a result of the drugs and weapons found in his possession. Barron is being held in the Pueblo County Jail on a parole hold and bonds totaling $102,500.Awesome job taking these drugs and guns off the streets.
